Crown – Book Review
I am a picky reader when it comes to marriage books. I think it all stems back to a book that a pastor recommended prior to our wedding. Oh my, that was the worst book ever. Seriously, I don’t think I could finish it as it was full of self-centered advice. It didn’t turn me off getting married but did make me very cautious about reading marriage books. Don’t ask the title. I have blocked that out of my head. I am trying to forget that book. Along came a book on marriage and I was eager to read it. I had heard about the book and wanted to read it. I am thrilled to give you my review of the book, Crown.
This book has 30 lessons with questions at the end of each lesson. The lessons are divided into six chapters as follows:
Yield – Laying a foundation built on the Word of God
Help – Understanding and occupying your role as the helper in your marriage
Smile – Choosing to live in joy, forgiveness, and friendship with your husband
Order – Managing your life according to God’s priorities for a wife
Gift – Pursuing and guarding God’s plan for sexuality in your marriage
Increase – Being married with your eyes fixed on your heavenly Groom
This book is written for any stage of marriage. I like that. There is also a reminder that the stage of marriage is not the same as it was. Because of that, I need a reminder of my marriage today and how I need to grow in that.
I found the book to be biblical-based for which I am thankful. There are biblical principles and Bible passages throughout the book. I was a bit concerned at the beginning that it seemed like the book was full of quotes from other books, good books but still lots of quotes. It made me wonder, “why should I read this book, maybe I should read the book she is quoting from.” Either they decreased as the book went on or I didn’t notice them as much.
This is a book to work through. Take the time to pause, answer the questions and consider the wife changing that you need to make. As I read this, I did pause and think a bit more about my marriage, wondering what God is asking me to do.
I read this as an ebook. Buy the physical copy so you can complete the questions after each lesson, highlight and underline the good bits, and keep it on your shelve for future reference.

About the Author
Nancy Kaser is a passionate pastor’s wife and veteran missionary. For over twenty-five years, she has taught women’s Bible studies, provided biblical counseling, and been a dynamic women’s conference speaker. Based in Southern California, Nancy teaches literature and history classes at The Writtenburg Door. She and her visionary husband also lead short-term mission trips with the Calvary Chapel movement and run a child-sponsorship organization.
More from Nancy
Closing the church door after my seventh counseling appointment that week, I was overcome with the realization that every appointment had been relatively indistinguishable. The women I counseled from our congregation were generally unsatisfied, disappointed, and disillusioned with their marriages, and some were downright rebellious in their role as wives. The same anxieties, the same troubles, (and the same sins creating the anxieties and troubles) came up in almost every meeting. Though these church ladies may have been well-versed in the scriptures, no one had taught them how to live out biblical principals in their everyday lives.
As a pastor’s wife, I wished I could meet with every married lady in my church and offer practical discipleship with this hope: that a glorious, fulfilling, and God-honoring marriage—to the same guy she is married to right now! —is absolutely possible through obedience to God’s word.

Sounds like a great book.
Marriage advice is one of those things that’s very hard to give, and even tougher to swallow.
This is the best marriage book I have read, as well. After I read the digital copy, I ordered hard copies for myself and a friend.
So happy to have gotten to know about your book. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great review! Thank you for sharing this valuable resource.
This book sounds like a really great read.
