Book Review – Miss Tavistock’s Mistake
Miss Tavistock’s Mistake is a light book to read but at times that is just the kind of book you need. My feelings for Miss Tavistock went back and forth through the book. At times I felt she was naive. At times she seemed to have some wisdom. She was a bit stubborn in parts of the book. She does mature through the book and wonders if her mistake can be undone.
I had some of the same feelings for Captain Rempeare. I admired him, but struggled with the way it seemed he enabled his brother. At the end of the book, you understand a bit more of why he acted the way he did. I think in some ways the mistake was part of his doing.
I picked up the book for two reasons: a romantic comedy and set in Yorkshire. I wanted to laugh. There were some funny moments and I chuckled at the interactions. Let me just say the Yorkshire bit was disappointing. I don’t recall much description of Yorkshire and I have to say it is the most beautiful part of England. Okay, I say that because I live in Yorkshire. Just look at my Instagram to see the beauty here. There is so much to visualize in Yorkshire, the rolling green hills, the sheep, the moors with heather and so much more.
Overall I did enjoy the book. If you are looking for a light read but with a true event, this is a good book.

Can Miss Tavistock’s mistake ever be undone?
Young Miss Tavistock is promised in marriage to Captain Rempeare by the wish of her dearly departed papa. But the captain’s been at sea for a decade. When she finally meets him, tempestuous sparks fly, and she impulsively adopts a daring false identity. Going by “Lady X,” she vows never to marry such an infuriating man.
Captain Gabriel Rempeare is prepared to fulfil his duty and marry Miss Tavistock—if only he can clap eyes on her. One circumstance or another keeps them apart, though he cannot seem to avoid the maddeningly lovely Lady X. When fate throws them together in London, Miss Tavistock discovers the real nature of the captain, and regrets her subterfuge. But can such a noble man forgive deceit? Or has her mistake already cost her everything?
