Who is Holding your Hand?

Who is Holding Your Hand

Remember when the most dangerous thing in life was crossing the street? You were not allowed to do it on your own. You had to reach up and find a big person to hold your hand. Now as the big person we face so many dangers or hard things in life. You still need someone to hold your hand. Who is holding your hand?

Holding hands means walking with the person. There are companionship and fellowship as you hold hands.

When my daughter was young, she was a runner meaning she would see something and just dash there. I think it is in her Down Syndrome genes. Thankfully, now she has outgrown that running. But when she was young I could often hold her wrist as that did not depend on her holding me but was all me holding her.

That is the exact picture of God holding your hand.

God is Holding Your Hand

It is not dependent on you but it is his strength, might, and power that holds you.

You get tired and let go but he never gets tired. He never lets go of you.

At times you are like the independent toddler refusing to hold God’s hand. “I can do it myself.” God is not dependent on you he is holding your hand.

You get bored and so you let go. God holding your hand is not dependent on your level of interest. He holds your hand.

Who is holding your hand? God is holding your hand.

Asaph understood that when he wrote this verse. You, God, hold my right hand.

“Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.” Psalm 73:24

When David writes about God searching him and knowing him, he also has the assurance that God is holding his hand.

“If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:9-10

I don’t know what you might be facing today. It could be financial challenges, know that God is holding your hand. You could be facing physical struggles, know that God is holding your hand. God is holding your hand. He will not let go.

God is Holding My Hand

The above illustration came to me as I tossed and turned in bed knowing that in the morning I would be heading to the hospital for a PET Scan. God is holding my hand. It is not dependent on me but on him.

That illustration fits with the prayer that a friend shared with me on Sunday evening. It was the prayer her granddaughter prayed for her as she faced cataract surgery. The prayer was that she would know that Jesus was holding her hand.

Monday evening a friend dropped a bag of goodies and included some hand lotion saying, it was to remind me that Jesus is holding my hand.

I was seeing a theme. Then the verses that were shared with me on the morning of the PET scan are the ones listed above, Psalm 73:25 and Psalm 139:9-10.

God wanted me to know that he is holding my hand.

God wants you to know that he is holding your hand.

Do you have the assurance that God is holding your hand?
